أثناء الاحتلال الفرنسي لسوريا في الفترة بين عامي 1920 و 1946، تم تطبيق نظام قانوني جديد وإدارة قضائية جديدة في البلاد. كانت السلطات الفرنسية تهدف إلى تحديث النظام القضائي السوري وجعله أكثر فعالية وفاعلية وفاعلية.
قامت السلطات الفرنسية بإنشاء محاكم جديدة وإصدار قوانين جديدة لتنظيم عمل القضاة والمحامين. كما تم تدريب القضاة والمحامين على القوانين الفرنسية والإجراءات القضائية الحديثة. تم إنشاء محاكم استئناف ومحاكم عليا لمعالجة القضايا التي تتجاوز اختصاص المحاكم العامة.

ورغم الجهود التي بذلتها السلطات الفرنسية لتحسين النظام القضائي والإداري في سوريا خلال الانتداب الفرنسي، إلا أن هذه الجهود واجهت معارضة من السكان المحليين والحركات الوطنية التي دعت إلى الاستقلال والتخلص من الاحتلال الأجنبي.
بعد استقلال سوريا في عام 1946، تمت إصلاحات شاملة للنظام القضائي والإداري بما يتناسب مع تطلعات واحتياجات الشعب السوري.
